Photography is my personal window into the soul of humanity. It is one of the only mediums that can so viscerally and plainly document the human experience. There are only so many mediums that can fully envelope the wet stain left by tears of joy, agony, surprise. The full belly laughter amongst friends and the sweat beading on the forehead of the best man as he engages in a drunken dance battle minutes before your send off. There are photos that need no context for you to enter into their field of gravity.
Then, there are photos where context is everything. The friend you lost, immortalized in a cherished moment on your wedding day. The family you’ve found, hugging you close, every one with the joy and pain of transition and change written in their beaming smiles. Your mother, quiet, looking at you and always seeing the baby she held so many years ago, now watching you walk down the aisle, away from her.
The only promise we have is death.
This is the weight of the work. The reason I do it.
ALL WE EVER HAVE IS this moment.
"I was never someone who invested in photographs until I met Emily!! I love her approach, her aesthetic, her wit-she will definitely make you laugh, and her ability to make you feel at ease in front of the camera."
"Emily is amazing... she is by far one of my favorite photographers and favorite people. She makes you feel SO at ease and gets beautiful shots all while getting real laughs and genuine moments out of your time together. I cannot recommend her enough!"
"Emily is a gem! Both as a photographer and a person. She has documented so many monumental and special moments for us and our family! I don’t trust anyone the way I trust her! Every penny you spend on her will be WORTH! IT! Her style is whimsical, classy, and truly her own"
"If you’re looking for a genuine, heartfelt, meaningful photo session, you’ve found the right photographer. Emily’s style is unique and I’ve never seen anything quite like it. She’s creative, adventurous, and so easy going that it takes no time getting comfortable."
I am no stranger to the press of a budget, and the stress of planning and executing a wedding. Therefore, I share this information up front with nuance toward additional expenses such as travel and coverage.
We all have our non-negotiables. As an artist, mother, and a sister, mine is photography. If you’ve read this far, yours likely is to, and in your search for a photographer I implore you to find someone to whom you feel deeply connected, someone you could envision spending hours and hours with.
My work and methodology is infused with my experience and desire to create lasting memories that withstand the test of time, change, life, and death. You deserve to have this documented, your thoughtfulness, your tiny details, and you also deserve to feel safe and comfortable, like a muse in the hands of a skillful artist.
I can do this for you, but it requires your trust and confidence.

Someone with a vision. Now, this should not be misinterpreted to mean someone with lots of money, as vision and money rarely walk hand in hand. My goal is always to work with people who are madly in love with each other and with life. People who are not afraid of their own voice, their own creative practice. I want to work with people who understand the importance of preservation, and intend to use me as a conduit to document and showcase a delicious slice of their inner world. My dream is to work along side the people who want me was much as I want them. They feel lit up by love, passion, integrity, joy, aesthetic, and depth.
If you’re reading this, I bet you’ve been browsing my site for a minute, drinking in the feeling of familiarity and comfort you get from scrolling through photographs and reading my stream-of-consciousness writing. Hi, I see you. I am you. You crave connection, meaning, understanding, and comfort. You’re checking to make sure we’re going to mesh well. I appreciate it, seeing as that is steeped into every step of my booking process. In short, I bring my boundless personality and most importantly my servitude. Above all else, the couples I work with are the recipients of my highest, most intense level of service. You will have my phone number. You will have my eagerness. You will have the shirt off my back. Then, in addition, you will have my captivation and artistic vision. I do not hold back.
"Other photographers I see choose one or the other". My ultimate dilemma over the course of years has been between my desire to do everything, and industry pressure to “niche down”. Frankly, I view every body of work I produce as family photography, at some level. If not for yourself and your family, chosen or otherwise, who else do we feel the intense need to document for? Most of us are not thinking about a time capsule, or the day 100 years in the future where our faded, tattered, now historical photography is available for $0.50 in a thrift store bargain bin. We are thinking of those around us and the people we cannot bear to lose to time. I do not see a differentiation between family photography and wedding photography as an artist, because it all leads back to the people we are, and the ones that we love. I have space to hold it all— in fact it’s my deepest desire.
